Advertisment 2.1 - CONCEPT

My chosen charity for this project was Crisis, whose main aim is to end homelessness by delivering life changing services and training. I concentrated my research on how they use Art and I found that last year they held an event called "The Crisis Commission" where massive artists like Tracy Emin and Antony Gormley created pieces to be auctioned off. In the show, there was a piece by the artist Nika Neelova called The Partings...

The doors have been taken out of situ, much like when someone becomes homeless, they lose purpose and meaning. They're at angles to show the imbalance and unease of being homeless and also hints at a shelter. I feel doors have a lot of meaning in being homeless, like "doors being shut in your face" and even sleeping in doorways. So as cheesy as it sounds, I've based my work on the quote "When a door closes, somewhere there's an open window." and my initial design is...

I changed the Crisis logo, because I personally don't like it, into this which was hand written with a sharpie. I feel it looks like an artists signature now which has more meaning to my cause and the campaign I want to create.

WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE?!

TV Advert

This is our final TV advert! The theme is healthy eating, so we went for 5 a day fruit and veg. We had a week to come up with the concept, film and edit it - as I've said before I love tight deadlines so this was great. Anyway, our video is completely stupid, and idiotic, but it's funny and has made everyone laugh which was what we wanted. Our group worked really good together, there wasn't any bickering or anything, we had a great time filming it and editing went really smoothly!

Advertisement 1.2 - PRINT AD

"When one reads books, he/she starts living it and identifies (or not) with main hero. These print ads for the Mint Vinetu bookstore, which sells lots of classics, focuses on the idea of becoming someone else. And provokes people to try on different personas."

Love these - simple concept, good type, reminds me of them record-face-thing people do.

Advertising 1.1 - TV Ad

To kick off our FINAL PROJECT OF THE YEAR(ish), over easter we were asked to look at a range of adverts, including TV, print, guerrilla and environmental.

For the TV ad, i chose to look at my favourite ever - Ikea's "Happy Inside" from 2010 because cats.

Anyway, the ad starts with an establishment shot, but not of the exterior - it's relying on the viewer to know that it's Ikea from the type of furniture and layout of the shop. It shows the cutie cats exploring Ikea, and as the advert progress's, they become more human in their actions in exploring the drawers, sitting on the chairs, getting heads stuck in headboards ect. As the adverts winding down, some weird lady begins to sing, and I'm not sure about the singing - I much prefer the piano on its own, just as the notes match the cats movement. When we were discussing this in tutorial, someone said that they thought it sounded like a cat..so maybe thats why they used it. Anyhow, as it winds down and the cats are getting comfortable, all tucked up in bed, the slogan pops up - "Home, its how it makes you feel" and finishes with a final establishment shot of the Ikea logo with the "Happy Inside" and guess what guys, this advert does make me feel happy inside.

I love the Ikea adverts, I think they're so good - i like the latest one too.

Wind in the Willows: Research

Oh this project. Was a struggle. I began with looking at Atonement and thought not to bother with the Penguin competition. However I began to get jealous of people drawing cute things so thought sod it, I want to do that too. A week had already gone by, bugger.

After perusing Waterstones and Amazon, I noticed something. Wind in the Willows covers are very green, therefore, I won't use green. REVELATION!

I spent the longest time faffing around on this project deciding what to do. I did a lot of character drawings, which were cute but I just didn't know how to incorporate those into a book cover. So I decided to move on and chose a scene in the book to illustrate. BUT NOT USE GREEN.

The scene I chose was when Mole was running through the woods looking for Badgers house - quite a sinister scene if you ask me. My colour scheme was Orange, Grey and Black. However, because I'd left it SO LATE these were my only sketches! How disappointing.

In the brief it specified it wanted some nice typography, so I had a go. Did many of this, many different types but I decided in the end to go with a swirly one to contract the shapes in my final image.

This is my final cover, which I created digitally. I've never done "digital painting" before so I thought I'd give it a go - didn't realise how long it'd take me. Many hours were spent on this, but I don't really think it looks like that. It's alright, but it's not brilliant. I think what makes it stand out from others I've seen is the colours, thats it though. I would've like to spend more time on it, making the tree's better and stuff but I got mad and lost interest. Maybe it would've been nicer in watercolour? Who knows.

Web Design: Week 4

AH FINISHED!

Ok so, going to do my best to explain...on the opening page, the logo would shrink down to the bottom and an arrow would appear along the polka dot line to show that you use the logo to scroll. The navigation is the collage, and everything links back to the home page via the logo.

Everything collapses into itself when you click on it, e.g on the about when you click one, the other buttons collapse into the selected one and a box drops down with the information.

On the Album page, you hover over each album and the name appears underneath, and when you click they'd slide away and the box would appear with an option to play songs from the album.

Shows page pretty self explanatory, calendar with dates and you click it and it takes you to Ticket Master.

Blog page, again self explanatory, its a blog where you navigate the posts using the options above the content.

Then finally we had to pop it into context, I did pages on this but you'll prolly be fed up of looking at it by the time you get to the end.

Finalised the logo this weekend and, inspired by some things on me mood board and after a chat with me tutor, I created the collages below to act as the navigation on the website.

Web Design: Week 2.2

Remember when I said I wasn't going to do a sketchbook, yeah i changed my mind. So here's my sketchbook, you've seen the mood board and the site map but the logo's are new - I decided to go with the name "In The Sun" as it's their most well known song:
